Potatoes, rice and mussels

Potato, rice, and mussel tiella is one of the most beloved and delicious dishes from Puglia, and especially from Bari, as well as a traditional dish. A dish that blends land and sea, it's sure to please everyone with its simple yet flavorful ingredients. The specialty lies in the black mussels, which lend a unique flavor.

  • 2 kg of mussels
  • 200g of rice
  • onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • pecorino cheese to taste
  • 1 kg of potatoes
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • oil to taste
  • parsley
  • cherry tomatoes

How to prepare it

First, clean the mussels and cut them in half. Separately, peel the potatoes and slice them. Once the ingredients are ready, let's start assembling the dish: take a baking dish and add the onion, potatoes, parsley, cherry tomatoes, a little coarse salt, and pecorino cheese. Arrange the mussels on top, season with garlic, parsley, and rice, then a little oil, cheese, more potatoes, and tomatoes. Garnish with a little parsley, cover with water, and bake.
